Each stage of what proved to be an extremely difficult project was undertaken with outstanding skill and professionalism. Before work began you made sure that neighbours were fully informed of possible disruption and we have received many expressions of appreciation. We are very grateful to you for making sure that the project began on a good footing. Once repairs were under way many unexpected challenges emerged, and on each occasion you, Craig and your staff, were able to meet those challenges with expertise. At all times the workmanship of your staff and your sub contractors was excellent. This was especially noticeable in the finishing work where it must have been very difficult matching the new with the old. We were particularly impressed by your management of the whole project and your selection of sub contractors who obviously share your high standards. At times we found the issues that cropped up quite daunting. However, you and Craig were always willing to assist by providing us with straight forward and sensible advice. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Your staff also displayed the same positive and helpful approach. It speaks for itself that despite the difficulties that could not have been anticipated, the project was finished last week in good time. We were very fortunate that your company was assigned to our repair project by our Insurers. We have no hesitation in recommending Form Builders Ltd.

It is with pleasure that I offer my recommendation of Matt Stevenson and his firm Form Builders Ltd. Although I have know Matt for just a few years, I have acquired great respect for him both personally and professionally. He operates a small, but now growing, building business that was the successful tenderer for a building project of mine early in 2010 - a substantial addition to my daughter's house. His price was the most competitive of the three firms who submitted tenders and his proposed time frame was perfectly acceptable so the contract was awarded to him. The house is the one I designed originally, it is flat roofed and is most unusual in that its exterior is totally clad in reflective glass. The extension was to be the same, so that presented quite a challenge to Matt. He carried out the work with aplomb, most professionally, efficiently, speedily and with excellent craftsmanship. It was done on time and within budget - give and take a few contingencies and minor variations (that all building contracts have). I was extremely pleased with the end result and so was my daughter. Matt has a most appealing manner, in my experience he is clearly honest and reliable and is very serious about doing the very best work, work that both he and the client can be proud of. He is intent upon personally keeping hands-on with all his projects. I was so impressed with his performance on that particular contract that in preference to other contractors I have dealt with over the years, I propose to engage Matt for the earthquake-liquifaction-caused rebuild for my own house next year. My daughter also arranged for him to restore her similarly-'quake-affected house by moving it off its subsided foundations, constructing new ones, replacing the house and putting it back into perfect condition. Her insurers have agreed to this process and to Matt's firm being engaged for it. He is fully licensed for earthquake-repair contracting.

Paul and I were lucky to come across Form Builders by chance and we chose them to build our new home in Merivale. Having completed our house to a very high standard, we absolutely love their workmanship and their attention to detail. When it had been finally determined by our insurer that our home was earthquake damaged beyond repair, our next concern was how to go about finding a reputable builder. In 2013, stories of bad building experiences were starting to emerge, and it was with considerable trepidation that we started on the process of designing our new home, and finding a good builder. Form Builders have given us a house to be proud of. As it was our first home build, we had only heard of the misfortune of others. The house we wanted to build was very simple. Large, open plan with long straight lines and an unusual roof line. We gradually became aware that the simple house wasn't so simple, the care that was taken to produce the symmetry was amazing, as one of the apprentices told me, when asked was having to redo a job "I was less than a millimeter out, but he said it wasn't good enough." I saw the house being built every day, I saw how much care was take to achieve the long clean lines and Form Builders gave me the house I wanted. After earthquakes and gales, we finally got the house we had hoped for. A beautiful house, warm and sunny, a house that feels right, a house I know was built right. When we were asked if they could enter our house in the House of the Year competition, we felt quite proud, to our delight our not so simple house was awarded a gold standard award. No hassles, no problems, I still get a thrill when I walk in and feel the height of the ceilings and the length of the hall, knowing that I wouldn't have the look if they hadn't taken so much care.
